Title says it! With Haloween approaching, just wondered who believes in ghosts. Have you ever seen one?

No and nope!
My nanan always claimed she had though and I have had two very realistic dreams where I have spoken to my grandad (after his death) but still cynical as the mind is a funny thing and I just needed to get a few things cleared up.

Yes definately - I have had a few too many weird experiences not to
1) when I was about 7 and on the day my grandfather died I was really upset for no reason and kept saying that I could see Poppa (my grandad) My my was really freaked when she had the phone call to say he passed away. 2) there wasa reputed ghost in my parents shop and a few people had some strange experiences, there was one room I just couldn't stand, and wouldn't go in it just freaked me out and on another occasion I was walking down the stairs carrying a big box so concentrating on where I was going with an arm on the wall to guide me as I couldn't see past the box very well, brushed past somebody so looked around to appologise and there was no one there. Also in the shop when I know I was the only one in the building I heard laughter coming from one of the rooms... 3) Finally when my other Grandad died I was washing up at home, I heard his voice as clear as a bell behind me saying goodbye to me and hello to my grandmother who had died a few years previously, half an hour later my Mum phoned to tell me he had passed away.
Apparently my grandmother had a sixth sense when it came to these things as well, and whilst not quite ghost related I always know when something seriosuly bad happens to one of the family usually before/ at the time it happens, when my brother was serving in Iraq my Mum kept phoning me to check he was OK.

I've always been open to accepting that there is certainly "something". A few years ago I was very low after the break up of a long term relationship and "something" came and sat on my bed every night and sometimes several times a night. At first I thought I was imagining it, thought it was the cats you name it I considered it however it went on for a few months. I was often very much awake and could see and feel the bed dipping. it wasn't scary but it began to really annoy me so one night I went to bed and yelled at "it", told it I was grateful for their concern but they could leave now as i needed some sleep! It has done it since but not regularly.
Do I believe? You bet I do Zx

Yes and sort of. I have never seen any think but heard and felt them.
At one of my ex boyf's houses. I was a pub they had turned into an antiques shop (their family business). the story goes that one of the local died and the wife went into the pub with his ashed put the urn on the counter and said "he spent more time hear than at home you have him". Anyway, during the day because it wasn't a busy shop, we would sit upstairs and had a baby monitor to listen for the bell on the door. Loads of times could hear clear footsteps without the bell having gone. one time me and S came in late from a night out and went to the kitchen (downstairs off the shop) we heard clear footsteps, the latch on the kitchen door went, the door opened then shut but no one was there. When I walkd throught he pub at night i always got that feeling you get when some letchy old man is watching you! and when i wouldnt use the loo in the shop at night cos it felt like someone was waiting outside the door. Also walking up the stair would feel my legs being touched. His family had seen things in other houses too, dogs and people.
zara the do say that is what you are supposed to do if you feel or see someone regulary.
I'm going to a medium night at my mates pub in a few weeks so will see if anyone comes up

I believe in ghosts and although I haven't seen as such I have had a few experiences.. one was when I went to collect my things from my ex's and my house and his son's yellow and red ball rolled out from behind the sofa all by itself and another one was when I was living at my then student house in Hayle and the smoke detector kept going off and when I walked into the room where it was it stopped - left the room again and it started (it did that for about 10 mins before I phoned the ex in hysterics and had to leave - never stayed there again by myself!!).

Would like to think they don't exist cos it scares me shi!tless!!!!

Ooh I'm all scared now reading your storys!!!! I keep looking round !!! I'm never going to be able to go the loo tonight!! I believe in ghosts although I've never seen one, although an old neighbour told me a story of a cat ghost, said cat used to always jump on a shelf and knock things off, but after the cat died one night all the books fell of the shelf for no reason...spooky. Zara I'm going to remember to do that if i ever get a scary/annoying ghooley

I so believe in ghosts but although I've heard and felt them, haven't actually seen one.
First experience was at my in-laws house where I kept hearing back door open and close followed by footsteps but when I went out to look there was nobody there. Things moving around the house in the middle of the night and "it" even touched me! I've never been so scared. Didn't tell anyone at first as thought perhaps I was losing it! But when my sister-in-law one night started talking about strange things happening there when she was a little girl I told her and she then told me that her grand-dad had died there. Hasten to say I don't stay there anymore instead we stay at my brother-in-laws (they live in Devon).
The second was at my own house. The usual kettles switching themselves on (even when not plugged in), footsteps running across the landing but only halfway down the stairs, tv switching itself on and off, someone calling my name, funny smells (not from me!), cold spots and dog refusing to go in certain parts of the house. Then the children started screaming in the middle of the night saying that an old man had woken them up by pulling their hair. So I got a medium to come along - didn't tell her what had happened - but just to see that my house was spirit free. Straightaway she told me that there was an old man's spirit in the house who felt happy whilst being around me but had also woken the children up by pulling their hair. I tell you I told her to tell him to get a grip and leave the kids alone. Hasn't bothered the children since but often pops back to be with me but it doesn't frighten me know as much as it did.
So yes, I'm also a big fan of Most Haunted though sometimes I think it's fixed.

the spookiest experiance i had was when we on hols in new mexico , we were staying at lincon county which is a like a living museum , everything is exactly like it was in 1880's , cept for flushing toilets. we were staying in the whortly hotel which was owned by pat garret and where bob olinger was having dinner whhen billy the kid shot him, anyway one night we were all asleep and i heard the door handle turn and footsteps, i just hid deeper under the quilt , but i could feel some thing or someone in the room, , anyway must of fallen asleep again , when i woke up my sister said she had exactly the same sounds and feeling, the second night we both heard horses and gunshot , the next day we were talking to the hotel owner,, and she said it was common to hear the horses and gunshots, and wierdess of all she said , did you get bob go and visit you the first night, he's still searching to get billy the kid

A girl i made friends with through my ex used to see spirits all the time, she even went to see someone to help her control it, she said it is so wierd cos sometimes she would see them normal, and not even realise they were spirits but other times she would see them how they passed. she told me a couple of really freaky things. 1. her and her partner were decorating the hallway and up the stairs, she was stood at the bottom watching here OH, he said he was freezing and she said thats probably because you just walked through the man watching you decorate! 2.This one is a bit freaky but her son woke up screaming one night and he wouldn't let her OH comfort him, he was white with fear. so she went in to see him guessing he had seen something. The poor kid had seen a little boy in his room and when she asked what was wrong with the little boy her son said nothing was wrong with him except he was soaking wet and couldn't get dry!
I love hearing about it all and can't wait to go see the medium

I have a ghost cat in my house. I see a black lean cat out the corner of my eye quite frequently walking in or out of a room. My cats always miss the same stair when going up or down and Stretch used to lay under the dresser on the stool - now he hisses and spits if you try and put him there. When I told my next door neighbour she said that it had been around for years (our houses used to be one) and she saw it in the garden all the time. She's quite psychic and has also seen an old lady looking out to the garden and heard children (not hers) in the house. The scariest thing is her daughter talks about 'Amy' who would visit her in the night. Spooky.
