Omg, i cant believe i just jumped my pony!!! ;D
Started off with 2 lots of 3 trotting poles, one set at B, the other set at E. The set at B was just your average trotting poles -
____ ____ ____
Then the set at E was a little different -
____
____ ____ ____
Canter stride inbetween the 2 poles at the top, but trotted thru it all to start with, then cantered over the single pole and built up to cantering over all 4 poles.
Was going to leave it there, but i thought, while my arms are already out the sockets, why dont i just whack the single pole up to a small cross pole... Jumped off and sorted it out, rechecked distance inbetween all the canter poles, hopped on and jumped it 3 times! ;D
It was only a 2 hole cross, but she jumped it like it was 5ft, and i didnt get unbalanced.
Any volunteers to put my arms back in their sockets and to sort out my 10ft arms from being tanked off with into the jump?
My face currently resembles this - ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Whoop-eeeee!
As for tanking off, try doing stuff in-hand. Get her walking over the poles, then trotting over them (nice and steady) and then build up to jumping when you feel she's balanced and ready.
If all else fails, just get her to trot over the jump, or only start to trot about 3 strides away (that way she can't possibly tank off in just 3 strides!). Insist on going over the jump at a trot though, otherwise the exercise is pointless. Only once you can calmly go over the jump in a steady, balanced trot (with no Mr Tickle arms) then do the whole thing again but in canter.
[this is amusing me...I actually sound like I know what I'm talking about! Well, what I've said is what we've been doing and we seem to be getting better and calmer, so give it a go Mae!]
Well done by the way....here, have a karma

Thank you all, means so much to me. ;D Still grinning!
Spotti, i did some inhand jumping over the summer with her and it definately helped her last time, so i suppose it cant hurt to do it again... she cleared 3t3 from a walk last time and shes only a little pony!
She can unfortunately do a cracking walk to canter though, and the more you pull, the shorter her canter gets, but it also gets faster too (not just shorter so it feels faster, i mean its faster!)
And spotti, you do know what youre talking about, have a karma! ;D ... Will give others out when it lets me ;D

Btw Maxi, for the full side of the bargain, ill grab my friend by the collar and put a camera in her hand to either get a few pics or vids... Just as proof that i did do it. ;D
Got an email from a riding club im part of earlier - Class 1 - Clear Round 12 noon - 3 pm
Class 2 - 45cm 3pm onwards
Class 3 - 55cm to follow
Class 4 - 65cm to follow
Maybe class one would be a good starting point... or the clear round but im not that clever!!!
I could do the C/R on the 25th may here too, weekend before she goes home... i just need to pounce on some poor unsuspecting person whos here over the weekend to come and help me... Or maybe im getting ahead of myself now!!!

thanks ;D
planning to possibly pop her over a fence tonight if she goes well on the flat.
ive decided to jump around 2/3 times a week so she gets experience, but isnt over faced or jumped enough to get bored. i might up that amount if shes been good on the flat and theres a fence up or something, but depends on the day. ;D

Thats so great for you! It's such a nice feeling isn't it? Joe and I just had our first jump together today, except I expected him to jump it like it was 5ft and he merely tiptoed over it! Was keen once we started canter strides though
