OK so I cant go to any show that takes my fancy due to no transport. There is one good hacking distance show near us. Its this sunday. its show jumping.
As you all probs know I have been having problems with ferns leg. all clear now though and have been riding nearly every day for last 3 weeks (except for about 3 days when her leg swelled up again). She is nowhere near as fit as she was before the leg though. We have just got to trotting properly and poles etc in the school. This could be the only show we have until next year. All the girls say she will be fine and I will regret not going, they leave their horse sometimes for a while then pick up straight away where they left off (which they do) and so on.... Obviously I'm thinking no. Dont want to risk another injury even if I do get her jumping again before the show.
But should I go? Would you go? I know I probably wont but I have never been in this situation before! I was thinking just to hack along with the other girls to see how she is there, in the whole show environment not actually compete her but just to let her have a look about. As this is her first EVER show I was just wondering whether I shouldn't waste the opportunity.
Thoughts?

same as above, ride down there with everyone, get her used to the environment. I don't know if i would chance jumping as the leg swelled up recently but remember you know her best.
Is there no where near you that hires out chuefered trailers? there is one by us that is only about £35 (I say only as if i had a spare £35 haha) i'm sure they must have some near you. that way when you know she is better you could do another show

Yes, I would definetley hack along and just ride around the grounds - When I took princess to her first show in June i just did In Hand. If she is coping well and not nervous or tense then you could maybe do family pony or something? but I wouldnt jump...

Oh yeah I deffo counted my chickens before they hatched on this one... I brought the show jacket, the cream jodhs, the brand new martingale (just in case she acts silly) and cleaned up her best numnah lol Will teach me for being too eager! lol I'll find out if my friends are still going and I'll just tag along to watch. Might even take her around the warm up ring to see what she is like if the stewards let me. Thanks guys for your continued help lol Stand by for possible pics!

if you want to go round the warm up ring make sure it is quiet in case she gets wound up, plus you dont want to get in the way of people actually warming up to compete. You could always say you are waming her up for a friend if the stewards ask cheeky i know but still

If you went for later on in the day, you may find that it'd be quieter and they may let you put the jumps down to poles and just walked her over them. Wouldn't do any proper jumping though. Good luck.

Hi, sorry I didnt get back! No I didnt go in the end. It was bucketing down with rain, plus I still weren't 100% sure about whether to take her or not. Turns out the girl who I was going to ride with her horse went ballistic at the show and she fell off, and didn't even get to put him in a class! So I'm glad really coz that would have really wound Fern up!
