Awww poor horsey - strangles and sunburn And Becca - I think they are (saw one of the yard staff dipping headcolars in disinfectant this morning so hopefully this should be the end of it). And no, vets don't charge for phonecalls - which was one of the reasons I rang him for advice! Lol. No but really, I'd have got him to come out if he thought he should, but he was very good and said it was up to me, that he would only do some tests to prove what it was and then leave her to it mainly, hence him not coming but he'll be over in a second if she gets any worse (I do love my vet - even though YO banned him once apparently - because he's just so good to us! Actually quite funny (well, its not, but kind of ironic really) that the other poorly pony is one of the YO's...one of the ones she said "definitely won't get it - he's irish" - (wtf? Does being Irish mean they're resilient to everything??? HMMM? ??). Anywho, I really hope they both recover and that no one else gets it 'cos its not nice. And Cherry - ta for the karma

Sorry to hear your news spotti. Thats awful but your vet sounds very supportive. Lots of tlc and nursing will help. Clean the nostrils and eyes often and soft foods. My old sheland had it once and we had it three times on our old yard. Glad to hear your yard is finally started to isolate and disinfect!
Big hugs for you and faith x

Spotti, has strangles been confirmed on your yard? I know YO deals horses and if it has then surely the yard should be effectively closed down to contain it. I hope Faith is starting to feel better again but if she doesn't pick up she will need antibiotics if it is strangles. Zx

Hi Spotti - how is Faith doing now? Milly has got more bute, she really is taking a very long time to get over this. Giving her alfabeet to put some weight back on her and give her a bit of strength. At least we don't have to worry about sunburn at the moment though!

I don't know but I really hope so! I was suprised wheh we arrived that we were allowed straight in wiht the others, but being nieve (sp?) I went with it and what do I get in return??? A bit fat bite in the bum and what could have been/could still be a nice juicy vets bill! How kind!
I'm currently asking around about other yards that would be easy enough for us to get to,b ut not having too much luck as of yet (found a great one - only 3 horses, 12x12 stables + mats, all year 24/7 turnout, easily accessible hacking in woods and moors AND only £15 p/w!!! Only downside is that unless I learn to drive and can afford a car, then there's no way I can get there. Shame really as it sounds great!

I certainly think she will be Duckles because she's been a such a cheeky monkey lately that if I didn't know any better then I'd think there was nothing wrong with her!
I hope she recovers well (and soon) and that nobody else gets it because then I'd feel really bad...poor ponios - you just feel so helpless when they're stood looking at you saying "Mummy, I'm poorly. Make it go away" and all you can do is clean then up and then leave them to fight it on their own.
Oh, and one fo her irish horses HAS got it, although he's such a sweetie and I really want him but I can't (such a shame because I love him lots, and even though he's nothing special, he and Faith seem to get on really well and I think she'll miss him when she's all better and back with the other liveries...awww, poor Brock *hugs*)
