I rode Tiggy today, schooling him around the field. He did some lovely walking then I asked him to trot and he jumped into it a little awkwardly.
I changed rein and he did a coupla little bucks, not happy bucks but tail swishing cross bucks. I took him across the field in trot in a straight line and he was fine. Last night i lunged him for a bit and when i put him on the left rein he laid his ears back at me and i thought he was gonna try and bite me. I just thought he was feeling grumpy. Also when i picked his feet up coupla days ago and today he was reluntant to bend his left hind leg. dunno if they are connected.
I know there is something up as he is not a nasty naughty pony. althought they were nano-tiggy-bucks and not Handstand-exploding-Fire bucks i want to get it sorted. I'm still pretty nervy from when fire bucked me off.
Do you think its connected to his back leg?

Could be- its hard to tell- can you tell us anything else? Could be reluctant to bend his left leg as he doesnt want to take weight on the right, or there is a problem with the left leg. He's not footsore is he? But the flies were evil tonight and my guy was tail swishy, cross and grumpy so could also be that- they were that desperate for blood they even braved the liquid parafin!!! Keep an eye on him, but also dont worry too much- this bl****** weather is enough to make the most mild mannered horse grumpy. brig

Hes happy to lift his fronts so i can scratch his "arm pit for him". Really strong winds today so there was no flies. He's not overlly fit atm but I have been riding him out regulary (nothing to strenous). He's never done anything like this in 2 1/2 years. It was like rather than go into trot he jumped like he was shocked. I'm gonna give him tomorrow off, then perhaps try him again on Thurs. I spouse its possible hes foot sore but when he was last footsore he just refused to go forward. He was much better over a long straight stretch. He's on a diet i spouse that might make him grumpy.

possibly a bit stiff down his right side if he is finding left bend hard. if he has been out of regular work might be work having his back checked just to make sure he is building his muscles up correctly again (bern was lop sided for a while after i took him to college)

I woudl say back perhaps too....maybe he just needs pelvis or vertibrea re-alignment which I think is fairly common.
Run your fingers donw each side of his spine in one movement and see if he does any thing at any point, like a muscle twitch or swish of the tail...

Its amazing what horses can do to themselves just playing or running round the field. He could have pulled a muscle or anything. Best get it checked if it doesn't resolve itself in a couple of days.
