Bit random this .... Some of you may remember that I am a journo scratching a living as a freelance ... and I need some help. I am writing a piece for the Daily Telegraph on whether having children makes you happy or if you are happier being childless. I am looking for a woman in her mid to late thirties (not younger as there is still too much time to change your mind) who has chosen not to have children (as opposed to not being able to) and is extremely happy with her choice - and doesn't mind telling the world (well, via me!) about it. Pix may also be necessary. So think carefully - but if this is you I'd be grateful for a chat. PM me and I'll then pass on my email. Thanx!

There was something in last issue of one of my mags about some woman who didnt want kids coz she was too worried about her body as she had spent years trying to lose weight and look good. Now she has it she dont want it ruined by having kids! lol And also in another mag theres some sort of phobia of childbirth that apparently makes women so scared of going through the birth that the simply choose not to have any through fear! Sorry..also a bit random! I read too much!

I would fit you criteria Racaille but its not that I dont want kids just never really thought about it, I keep thinking "in a couple of years time" also dont really want to be in the paper

Don't think she would do it but my aunt and uncle never had kids, they have to be 50/60 by now (terrible i dont know !!) they love seeing us and their friends kids but just like the nice life of holidays and fancy restaurants, nice things etc that you cant really afford with kids (unless you are really rich)

Yeah, I do understand about not wanting to be in the paper, but if you think of other people who are more extrovert.... The problem is I know quite a few childfree couples but they all live abroad and I really need someone UK based. So please pass it on, folks!

I chose not to have children, and would have been extremely happy. ;D I've ended up with two P.S Probably, wouldn't really change them, but I am open to bidders. ;D ;D

Sounds like there's a good story in there....... (And echoes my situation perhaps, as I was thrilled to be childfree until one popped along when I was 39, with another when I was 42. Sometimes feel like putting them on eBay but actually am as soggy about them as the next mum!)

Apparently, everyone knows you can conceive when your taking antibiotics with the pill. EXCEPT ME! ;D Then of course my lovely little daughter, who I found under a Raspberry bush.

That's why I run a mile from raspberry bushes, gooseberry bushes, cabbage patches..... the list goes on. Hmmm, sounds like I'm going to spend the rest of my life hiding under the bed!

Hi racaille, I'm 43 and I've never had any desire to have kids and neither has my sister who is now 46. I don't feel any huge gap in my life - filled it with animals and work. I get sick of people making assumptions about me and the fact childless people are often "discriminated against" ie crap off duty at Xmas etc, can't get hols in the summer as all parents want it off, don't get 5 days of "carers leave" a year! etc etc (I work in the NHS) Not overly sure I would want to have my "story" all over the paper though Zx

sorry kitkat I found finlay under the bed!!! lol Maximum, the mind boggles... Zara, I totally agree with you. 'Familly friendly' policies get me so annoyed when those of us without children just have to pick up the pieces.

I have absolutely no desire to have a family. Can not abide children. People always say that I'll change my mind & there's plenty of time for me to have kids (I'm early 30s). I'm too selfish to be a parent and I have an extremely short temper & don't think I could cope with a crying baby or whinging teenager. And working in a secondary school only confirms my decision. Thankfully there is so much rubbish underneath my bed that nothing could live there!! The only thing I'll find other than 'stuff' is dust Will also avoid the previously mentioned fruit bushes!!

i'm to young for your story [25] but i have one 18 month old and one due on the 30th, i never ever wanted babys untill i met my husband and then i had a desire to breed! i sometimes think god what on earth have i done, it would be so much easier if it was just me and my horsey i could ride when i want, go to all the comps like i used to, have my hair done go to the pub and come back wrecked and not worry about getting up the next day! But i could never replace them, her first word, first step when she puts her arms up for me, when i take her riding on her little pony, its a million times harder but 100 million times better with them there, i wouldn't change her for the world, i'll have to let you know about this one when he arrives, like you say i may change my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!
