I have just moved the horses to the back field. They haven't been in there since last year and I luckily ( before they did ) came across 3 huge holes which seem to be going to an underground home of some sort. Too big for bunnies. Fox or badger maybe? Or mutant moles Ahhggghh!

I agree, probably badgers. You'll have to camp out there to see if they come out! Mind you, if it's a mutant mole, that may not be a good idea. It might try and drag you down!!

Badgers have roughly a D shaped entrance hole the flat side of the D at the bottom.
Bear in mind that Badgers are protected under the wildlife and Countryside Act and even disturbing a den than is not in use can result in prosecution. If it is causing a hazard to the horses you would need to get a licence and a qualified ecologist to move them. May be easiest to just prevent the horses getting too close to the den by fencing it off?

I have just fenced it off from the horses, they usually try to break out of the field, so hope they dont' try to break in on this occasion, they are contrary enough LOL

Ooh you should go down at dusk and wait to see them. Beautiful things - well I say that, sadly have only ever seen them at the roadside but would love to see them alive in the wild.
