I found my Mark Todd Dubarry rip offs very good when we flooded in 2011, I was wading about in them all day up to my calves and my feet stayed warm and dry, but the boots themselves arent very nice to look at- I have a wide calf and they look as though they are made for a michelin man! I have some smart Dubarry ones for posh horse days out and they are much better- hide the wider calf measurement very well but too expensive for wearing around the yard. Sadly Hunters always go at the ankle for me so arent worth the money. I have some mountain horse slip ons that I love for day to day, very comfy and very waterproof.

I too love my MH short furry boots - bliss on a cold day.
But I wanted something long to slip on for stomping around the village. So I've ordered the Mark Todd ones. They look nice enough to me Brig!

Hmm, Brig I see what you mean about the Todd boots looking vast. They are the right size at the top of my calves but humungous lower down. They also cramp my toes a bit and I'm not sure if they will ease or not. I'd like to send them back but I have ripped the box (clumsy) and EC may not take them back. Hmm, might be an expensive mistake. I've alway bought Dublin as they fit me very well although EC says the new tall boot, Dare To Be Edge or something, comes up small. Makes buying mail order fraught for me but I don;t have a lot of choice. Country boots don;t seem to have made it to Provence.

I understand your pain Rac having been through it in Hong Kong - it's always a nervous moment trying things on, especially with the cost of return postal!
My Ariat Mudbusters arrived on Friday and have been great so far. I find them really comfy, they are more supportive than your average welly and the rubber is very thick so hopefully it will last. They are also shaped around the calf which I think will make them ok to ride in, though I've not tried them yet.

At least EC were good about the torn box: I phoned them and they were cool about it so the MT boots have gone back (at great expense ) ) I'll wait for the sales now to try some others but in the meantime I've ordered dome ankle-length fur lined things - bit of a bargain at real leather for 20 quid. Here's hoping they fit!

Dublin river boots great on price £109 by me and holding out well so far after being totally abused or I don't have any but I believe Ariats if you want wellies, not sure if this is fact but I have been told due to the enviroment recycling etc rubber isn,t as durable as it once was so you have to spend a bit more to get wellies that last.
