If anyone would like to ride one of my beasties please pm me, They desperatly need more exercise (but can't be parted safely at moment so it would be accompanied) and Harry's rider has vanished off the face of the earth it would seem No costs, instant off road hacking, both green so not really novice rides (OH manages them though). NG21 area of Notts Must be Reliable (and nice )!!!!

Bumping and getting desperate now, next step will have to be putting them in livery so they have other equine company but REALLY don't want to go down that route

I WISH I lived nearer!!
I'm really suprised that there is no one jumping at the chance for free riding without any of the work! I'd have jumped at the chance so fast that I'd probably have left my shoes behind (because I jumped so fast).

hope you find someone Haffy- I'm in the same boat myself. Before I had a horse I would have done anything to have an oppertunity to ride out on someone else's horse but seems no one wants to now!! I envy you all the off roading. I am going to try ride and lead. But good luck- anyone would be really lucky to have the chance to ride one of your lovely boys

Duckles I am not brave enough to ride and lead as Murph is too unpredictable at times and prone to buck/leap for no apparant reason whether mounted/lead. It would however solve a lot of problems so maybe I should give it a whirl in the field sometime.

Haffy I tried the led and ride on Christmas Eve. I had read the Horse article but actually thought the thread on this forum loads better. I had remembered the advice given in it (thanks Brig). Actually it was harder than I thought. Cori is very difficult to hack on his own but is ok with another horse and JB is his best friend and also the (very gentle but effective) boss of the whole herd so I though Cori would be fine being led. First of all he didn't want to go side by side- it took a while to overcome that. Then in trot, he wanted to go first (which din't go down well at all!!). I practised in the arnea first and then went up and down the avenue a few times. My plan was to try the roads yesterday (I thought they would be quiet it beings St Stephen's day) but it was bitterly cold with an artic wind so I felt not the ideal day for trying the lead and ride on the roads. JB was very funny though- he kept looking at Cori as if to say 'will you behave yourself!' I wouldn't mind but he's no angel himself!!
I can understand that you are afraid Murph will be unpredicable - (cori is a bit like that too- hence I am somewhat nervous of going on the roads) I though that that maybe a back up lunge line would be a help - clipped to a head collar or something- so if he took off and you dropped the reins - at least you could get him back with the secondary rope- is that a mad suggestion??? ANyway I will keep you updated with my progress (hopefully progress) - I am so hoping it works as I have finding it difficult to get any level of fitness at this time of year. And I think it would be nice too to be out with them both.
