I had an email from my university tutor today. I was told I cannot return to my course until the new year at the earliest depending on whether or not they can fit me into clinical placements. If not I have to wait until october 2009

I am totally gutted and P****D off as it wasn't my fault I had an accident and had to take time out. Infact the tutors told me that I should take 6 months out then return to the course when I was better so I followed their advice and now look. I have to ring the course leader to arrange a time to see her and provide written notice of my intention to return.... That is not all yet again I have to do a CRB check but I know that'll be fine. I have to pass another occupational health check which was hard enough the first time because of my disability.

The worry is now what if I become unstable again? Me and my GP were aiming for my return as a way of keeping me focused. Getting onto my uni course was a huge achievement as it is a difficult course to get onto. I know I'm not leaving the course and I will go back but I don't know what to do with my life.

Hell gutted doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.

Flash, that is awful news and I really feel for you. Could you make an appointment to see your course tutor- it makes a big difference to see someone in person - its easy to fob someone off with an email but if they see you and realise all you've gone through, it could make a difference. Keep nagging at them. Anyway good luck and as Maximum says, if it has to be next year, have a plan for the autumn.

You will get through it flash7, it is just a setback, but as the others have said, try to find something else to focus on, its hard but it will pass and you will be able to look back on it one day and find that it really wasn't that bigger deal. x
