either this is well random or you know a horse witht he problem?! Is it the saem thing as the Masseter muscle? This as far as I can see is the main muscle that is used int he opening and closing of the jaw methink.... have a look at this article about how the mouth works and how all the bits function together www.equinecraniosacral.com/articles/article2.htmlits quite in depth and at least may give you some google ideas!

Or do you mean Check ligament? I have never heard of the cheek ligament and had to look up ceejs website. I have heard of the check ligament and more information can be found at http:/www.horseandhound.co.uk/horsecare/1370/37469.html

And yes ceej, I do know a horse with the problem. Thinking of getting another horse who has "tweaked" his check ligament. Would have to get an independant vet to take a look as the owner is playing down the problem in my opinion, but think he'd need to be turned away for 6 months and then bought back into work again. On the plus side he'd be free. Just wondering what vetinary treatment may be involved if any? What did your girl need doing kate?
