Just had a text message from members of my local horse watch in Northamptonshire:
"9 cobs stolen from cannock yesterday, 5 thae day before in lichfield. Red land cruiser, white van and blue vw are vehicles used"
Don't know if this is related to the other post about thieves as I can't access that post at the moment. Thought It was important to pass on the info as soon as.

I got this message too by email today from my local riding club - but they said it came from horsewatch in Derbyshire.

I don't know the exact origin as it's been passed on a few times but the more people who know the better .

For sure - anything that makes people more vigilant. There are some horrible people about.

Was told that police warning yard owners in Aberdeen-shire of horse thieves. Friends grandaughter in question does not live on site.

I agree what an awful hoax. Did double check with Aberdeen-shire friend. She definitely spoke to police who told her to beef up her security at her yard.

why do they always steal cobs??. im tempted to put a padlock on my gate at night, what do you think? its post and rail so they would probably break through but i can see most of the field from brother's window, and pony is terrified of men, so i dout they'd catch her like that? x

just read this My aunty who is the DC for Eggesford pony club has just rung me to say that thieves were spotted near Lapford, Devon. I have a registration number of the white van M253 XAJ. Apparently they were seen watching a racing stables and later horses were found out in the field
i hope its not a chinese whispers one and wastes peoples time as much as i hope its nothing to be worried about

There are so many rumours about that it's difficult to know exactly what is going on and where. I heard yesterday that the "eastern europeans" have been arrested and then I heard that some horses had been stolen only a few miles from us! Found this today on the BBC web site! Don't know again how much of this is rumours/how much is truth again but the lady who rides Harry has told me some horses have been stolen from a place called Farnsfield recently (which is near to me and also Mae) and again generally around the district. Zara that was also on teletext.

It isnt a false alarm, or the doings of farmkey as some people have said, however i am very sceptical as to how these guys can be in more than one place at once...

Just read that thanks Maeseren. Good information. It's worrying especially in the case of that girl who was followed. If there was any threat near me I would stay with my horse all night and day too.

Hey, I've just been to my riding lesson and they've just had to call the police out to a suspect vehicle driving round the yard in the no car zone!! this was in Radley South Warwickshire. The car was a white 205 with primed boot, it had 2 passengers in it as well as the driver, as I left they seemed to be doing a circuit of the village really slowly!! Jus thought I'd let people know xx

Thanks, maybe one of the mods should make this a sticky for the time being? So we can all add any info, and it never drops down so there to hand?

Just an update- there are three vehicles involved, the white ford van is a minibus type, the red lancruiser is an estate and there is a white long wheel base flat back lorry with drop down sides.
Horses have been stolen from Morley in Leeds, queensbury in Bradford, Richmond and Masham in North Yorks. they take photos and steal to order.
