Right, Faith's been kept in for a while with bruised soles and is about to start going back out again - problem is she's had lami before and I don't want her stuffing herself silly and getting it again! My plan at this moment in time is to let her out for short periods of time (approx an hour at first, under my supervision), mainly so she can get used to having her new boots on, but also so she doesn't manage to eat too much grass. I'm planning to let her go out without her muzzle on. Does this sound like a good idea? Or should I let her out for longer with her muzzle? Or do I just forget the muzzle altogether and hope that she doesn't get lami again? Help appreciated

if you can i would strip graze her so she gets enough to eat but can't gorge herself but if not then turning out for about an hour will give her what she needs

Cheers Sav @) If it were my field then I'd strip graze, but its not, so can't really go interfering. Do you think an hour is enough, or should I build up to her being out for longer periods? (I think she's gonna go mad when I let her out later...probably gallop non-stop for a few minutes then stuff her face! Crazy fool!)

Hi Spotti, it's very difficult when you're on a livery yard but I would have thought the yard you're on would be understanding (??). This episode of bruised soles was that and not lami? I would turn her out for just a couple of hours then bring her back in. If she is with others i personally don't like muzzles but they have thier place. What has you vet said?
Bruised soles can lead to "traumatic lami" so be very careful, a horse on hour yard is on 10 weeks box rest at the moment and it doesn't look good for him. Speak to YO and ask her advice Zx
