This is going to sound really random and possibly a bit daft but... Can you do pleasure/endurance rides without actually riding? (basically meaning could we do it in-hand )

Can't see why you couldn't - though I would check with the organisers first. Pleasure rides at least - probably not endurance as it's a lot more 'governed' The only thing would be time I suppose. The shortest I've seen is 8 miles - would you want to walk that far? You could always do part of it or sometimes they have shorter rides for lead rein. So yeah definately if you can have a lead rein section, why not lead rein but without a rider?

Yeah, id say you could do it on a pleasure ride - ive seen there are short 3 or 4 mile routes for lead reins. They would probably look at you weird tho wondering why you want to lead rather than ride, lol!!
You can still do shows in hand as well! Its lucky shes coloured as there is usually a section for coloureds. ;D

He he he. I was just wondering in general really. I think Faith would love pleasure riding but I don't know if she'd physically cope with it, but the above was just a question that popped into my head rather randomly lol. Ta for answering me guys Karmas (not given them out for aaaaaaaaaages!)

Well, I'm not sure it would be do-able. Certainly not on the ones I do, but this may just be a French thing. Ours always involve quite a lot of speed and not only would you not be able to keep up (LOL - a lovely mental picture ) but a lot of horses get very excited when a bunch of other nags go flashing past them. I rode one once who just would not allow another horse to overtake him. At the end of two days I was a nervous and physical wreck!

But youre maybe thinking of a CTR (competitive trail ride) or an endurance ride racaille? Pleasure rides are usually more sedate and theres no race although people do flash past you - usually they are kind enough to walk past and then ride off so you do have to be wary of that.
Plus you would need someone to walk with you spotti - it would be very boring wandering along on your own without someone for a bit of craic!

I think the clues in the word ride! just round up some mates and go for a walk- more fun and you dont need to worry about her birling about and hurting herself.

Hmm thats probly a more sensible idea maxi! ;D
What about organising a picnic and going for a walk with your friends - they could ride if they wanted and then you could stop to eat and then walk back again?
